José Asunción Silva Fellowship
The following application is for the Jose Asunción Silva Fellowship. Every year, two High School juniors or rising sophomores are selected as fellows at College Scholar. As part of this program, throughout the year, students are given challenges and tasks related to their interests, such that they advance their knowledge in a field they wish to study in the future. At the end of the school year, the fellows present their projects to the College Scholar administration.

This year, we are seeking to select two fellows which will work on three important projects in the fields of data and computer sciences, marketing and graphic design, and writing and business, so students with these skills will have a slight advantage. Nevertheless, the most important skills are self-teaching and problem solving, which will be needed during the fellowship.

Aside from this, fellows receive constant support and counseling throughout their college application process. After the fellowship, students are invited to work with us as college consultants and counselors.

Our goal is to help high achieving students from underrepresented backgrounds to discover their passions and achieve their dreams of studying abroad. Because there are so many students interested in applying and we only have two spots for our fellows, the application is highly competitive (<1% acceptance rate), which is the reason why we ask for that much information from our applicants.

Our admissions process is holistic and in consideration of your context, so we ask you to give your best effort in the application. Students with demonstrated financial need will be given priority since the purpose of this fellowship is to help driven students that have not had the desired educational opportunities in their context. Students who do not fit into this category may still qualify if they are exceptional candidates.
